A Half of Me

At the crackdown of dawn - crepuscule ended
The tale of a strange morning descended
When to the mirror, I walked up
Shocked to the inner - a part of me was missing
Disappeared, escaped, vanished or numbed
Left half, saw I in the mirror
Save the right half that was gone
Became dust or decayed with age
What miracle or curse - I know not!

In a book, a rose I see

Darkened with time
Crisped like a perfect rhyme
In a book, a rose I see
Nectar of which fed many a bee
An emblem of love
Or forgotten, all and above
Now powdered and dried
Perhaps a sign of someone who sighed
Lying dead betwixt the words
Spreading its lifeless petals as wings of birds
In a book, a rose I see
That in past; bloomed with freshness
Adorning the garden; adding to its richness
Why not an object of embellishment?
Why without care and nourishment?
In a book, a rose I see
Now hidden and unremembered
As if its owner has slumbered
‘ts buried now -
in the book, this rose that I see

How I wish I were a Butterfly

With brightly pigmented wings
Patterns of polka and rings
Delicate and alluring
From bloom to bloom ambling

Soaring high and low
To the gardens I bow
Resting on flowers
Imbued with the heavenly showers

Feeding on nectar
The only way to nurture
Discernible, fluttering flight
Not in dark, but daylight

Acquainted with every blossom
Beauty and pleasure for many some
Yesterday a caterpillar, today a butterfly
Weather and resentment to defy

Subject of literary art
Brooch and jewel to look smart
In freedom and delight I would live
Short, but as beautiful, if I may strive

A Desert Turns into a Garden

Arid and torrid
Signifying hopelessness and failure
The desert, that lies in a corner

Half dead and wearied its inhabitants
Men, peasants and infants
Barren is its land
In sight is none, save the sand

No travelers tread its way
As thorns are likely to sway
Oh! What dismay!
Every step moving astray

The beacon eclipsed of yore
Buried near the shore

The sun shines with all its might
But, lacking in its light
Evil holds its roots;
Abundance of loots

Today has rained after years
Every drop from sky sheers
And so does the parched desert cheers

Its sand turns into rose petals –
Flowing with the breeze
Summer turns into spring -
And people bow with ease

Look! The desert has turned into a garden
Cries are now cheers
Infertile desert now a joyful Eden

My New Blog :)

After much hesitation, I have reached to a conclusion that I must run a blog for recording my personal experiences and random thoughts - a kind of a web diary.  I have always thought of doing that, but I don't know why I was reluctant before. Anyways, I am finally into it!

So, here is the link:

I am not giving up on poems, so this blog will remain active too :)

Are you still breathing?

Yes! We are!

Accosting the tremor;
the water in its wrath;
and the carnage of the innocent

Like the beads of a necklace
Defying nature, combating brutality.

We starve for hunger
We live vexatious
But yes we are still breathing

Robbed off our tri-gems
Plagued our home with terror
Castigated our presence to the ball,
We triumph over our ascendancy.

A mere defeat on the ground
And we shall still breathe

A defeat in disguise -
A sign of unity shells our loss

Uniting us from the Heaven-on-earth to the High Mountains
From the Plateaus to the Plains
From the Valleys to the Sea
See! We are still breathing

From the temples to the church
And from the mosques to the bliss
We chorused the songs of the Green.

Enduring natural disasters
Facing calamities
Only death may take away our breath
And death occurs in solitude of the soul

We, the nation that breathes
We stand alive! Like the teeth of the comb!

You, Me and Memories - A Dedication to a Friend :)

I consider myself blessed for coming across some very kind people in my life. Though my list of friends is countless and each one of them is special to me in their own way. But, there are three of them, who are and will always occupy a special corner in my heart; Mamoona, Huma and Hira.

I have always taken pride for being someone who is never forgetful about wishing her dear ones on their birthdays, but shockingly this time I forgot my best friend, Mamoona’s birthday :(. I didn’t actually forget it; it’s just that there was so much happening around that it slipped out of my mind the very day she had it.

I know her for more than eight years now and this was the first time something like that happened – so, it came like a blow to us both. I tried to assuage her by fabricating a terse poesy and it proved to be profitable in pacifying her :). In  fact, I too felt a little off-the-burden of guilt and regret after scribbling this down. Although none of you would be clearly able to relate to it, because of its subjective nature, but I still thought to put it up on my blog. So, here it is:

You, Me and Memories

The passage of early nest and the light drizzle,
two buds walking, speaking of their charms of youth.
Many have been the flowers of this Eden,
but oh for you and me!

Our heaven and those days of freedom,
Sitting side by side when our hearts would sink for a little more.
Yet many angels around but oh for you and me!

A delight or a nightmare,
remember the days of sorrowful regret!
Turning into dreamful memories,
when you and I, oh, were but always affectionate.

At this twilight,
let it be our dawn.
Still you and I
and those lingering stellars.
Save the somatic distance,
oh for you and me!

My photo
Everyone needs a place in their life where they can go to escape the demands of family and work, enjoy some adult time and be free from the daily grind. Psychologists call it ‘the third space’ because most people spend the majority of their lives in two places – home and work. A third space provides a haven from these places of responsibility, where we can chill out and indulge our leisure interests. For me, my third space is my blog. It is without doubt the most important part of my world.

Somewhere faraway; As I sit to feel the silence, My thoughts are carried away by THE WHISPERS OF MY HEART!!
